What to Expect

Prophet Ilias Monastery
monastery was established in the 18th century. The view from the
highest point of the island (567 meters) is more than rewarding. You
will enjoy the striking view and the fresh air. The monastery of Profit
Ilias has a great history thought centuries. From 1806 to 1845, greek
language was taught. Books and ethnographic material was gathered. The
monastery suffered a serious damage in 1956.but the monks until nowdays
produce wine and candles.
The traditional village of
megalochori is well known for the historical homes, mansions and the
bell tower of ‘Marmita’ church. Prehistoric settlements and vineyards
are waiting to be discovered. All cobbled streets and edge pathways lead
to the square of the village.
